Auto Insurance for Son with Learner's Permit?

My son just got his learner'-s permit. Under WV law, do I have to put him on my insurance? Thanks

In most states, children on learner's permits are covered under your insurance. You do not need to put him on your insurance until he has a license and is driving alone. But I can't guarantee that that is true for WV, so check.

If you let him drive your car he will need to be added to your policy. Yes....your insurance will go up. Sorry.

Honestly I don't know WV law, but the above answer isn't necessarily correct. I could drive with a permit in my parent's car without extra charge but the main thing is the plan. Make sure you check with your insurance and don't let them talk you into something. Just find out if you can give permission for a family member to drive the car and that you would be covered.Calling the local DMV couldn't hurt either could it?

How to finish filing GAP Insurance?

Resolved Question Show me another » In what ways does buying a car affect auto insurance premiums?
The car affects the premium. New cars are worth more than cars several years old, so they cost more than older ones. High priced cars cost more because the potential loss is much greater than for that of lower priced cars. Sports cars cost more because they're supposed to have more accidents...

NJ Auto insurance policy question. In NJ, we have to select whether the auto insurance company or the health?
NJ is a PIP state so your insurance will not increase for injury claims in a not at fault accident. So, that is not an issue. If you request that your auto insurance is primary, there IS a deductible and copayment and the PIP medical expense coverage is limited to $250,000 (at least that...
