Can I get a day pass to drive my unregistered car to my new home?

I recently moved from LA to Monterey, CA. Im going back home to get my car this weekend but I dont have the money right now to register it. Is there a possiblity of getting a day pass or week pass so that I can get my vehicle down here? What must I do and what do I need?

Do you have a current insurance policy on a different vehicle? In our state, it is law that a current auto insurance policy will automatically extend coverage to a newly purchased vehicle for 30 days if you notify your agent. If you have no insurance currently, then you need to buy the policy before you get any coverage. You don't need to have the registration done, just make sure the title has been signed over to you.
