How much do you pay for Insurance in your state?

I live in New Jersey and the Insurance for an auto is so high here. I pay $168 a month for a 2003 ford explorer that is loaded. I have no tickets, my record is clean.I also have lived in Utah and my Insurance was only $50 a month.Just wondering what everyone pays in different states?

Typically, insurance rates will vary from State to State and can even vary by ZIPCODE! It also will depend on the type of car/truck, coverages, limits of liability, and driving record. SOme companies run credit scorees and MOST run a motor vehicel report and CLUE (Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange) report to see about undisclosed accident involvement. The best thing to do is call a LOCAL independent agent. Don't go across town, or to some other city - look for someone CLOSE. Just look in the phone book for the PIA or Big I (Trusted Choice) logos and you will find a professional licensed agent that will be able to help you solve your insurance problems, and give you rate comparisons of several different companies. You have another source in NJ, the NJ Auto Agents Alliance. These guys SPECIALIZE in auto insurance and it wasn't THAT long ago, auto insurance was almost non-existant at an affordable price for ANYONE - but due to the efforts of the NJAAA, things have changed! An independent insurance agent will normally have a dozen different companies and if he cannot help you, he should be networked with other local agents that can. Most of the replies on this site say "go to this on-line carrier or that on-line carrier or that 1-800 number" but I'm sure that when you do, you will find some impersonal computer user with a script to work from and you won't be able to talk with the same person every time you have a problem!Utah was one of the first States that had an electronic verification data base that would identify uninsured motorists that WORKED and is STILL working! By controlling the uninsured motorists in the State of Utah, they effectively lowered the liability insurance rate for EVERYONE.New Jersey used to be the WORST State to try to buy insurance in and a lot of folks would go to PA to get it......I think it has changed some but the rates are STILL higher than most other States in the USA!Good luck, drive RESPONSIBLY and I hope this helpsSource(s):Insurance agent for 27+ years

I pay $320 for my husband and I but my dad is also on the insurance policy. 3 cars....2003 Chevy Tahoe fully loaded....2005 Nissan Altima....2006 Nissan Frontier...which I think is too much. I live in California but your zip code can have can affect your rate. I personally think that this is ridiculous!!!

Can I have different names on the registration and insurance on the same vehicle?
You can but will in the end save nothing. He will have to be a listed driver if driving the truck so the price is right back to where you started. For information, you do NOT have to be the owner to insure a car.. I have insured a car for years that I do not own (and never will own)... and...

I need liability insurance for a small taxi company in NJ. Anyone have any recommendations?
Typically, the rates for taxi cabs IS pretty high. I insure several taxi accounts in Texas. With you starting a "new venture" you won't have any loss runs or transit logs to show for evidence, so it will be higher than if you had 3-5 years of experience. Remember that the rates in a smaller...
