How much does it cost to have a MRI without insurance?

As a auto claim adjuster, I have seen many MRI bills submitted and have found that the average cost is around $3,000, plus you usually get a separate bill for the radiologist who reads the MRI.So when other poster stated $1,000 and other shown the remake health site for quotes, was surprised to see that in our state can get for $875?Granted it does not surprise me that say a hospital may charge $3K and find it cheaper elsewhere since the problem with health care costs is that in most cases, WE DON'-T KNOW THE COST UNTIL WE GET A BILL AND THEY DEMAND PAYMENT.The site lists price and can schedule online, but I will make a suggestion to you 1st and that is to call them and talk to them prior to going. The reason is that you may need multiple sites for this MRI and the site shows PER SITE.So say for instance, you need a complete MRI of your back which could include the cervical, thoracic or the lumbar. Even though it states $875 each, in effect it could cost $2,625- (875 x 3)At that point my prior bills recd for $3,000 could have been for all 3 total and not a lot of savings. It could be possible that IF you do multiple sites, they might discount more, but that would be the reason to call them 1st and specifically ask what will be the total costs you will be expected to pay. Also one other thing. Since either you have no insurance or maybe under-insured (have insurance but high deductible), talk to your doctor to see if their are alternant tests you could have (ie- CT, cheaper about $2,000 or X-rays which could cost couple of hundred each)or if the MRI IS REALLY NEEDED AT ALL. Doctors will automatically either for protection of being sued, will order all kinds of tests or they may not realize that you will be the one paying and could be out financially for this test. When my husband had a MRI years ago for his back, 3 years later, he went back for pain injections and doctor requested 2nd MRI, my husband explained that we would be out of pocket since under deductible, so the doctor stated ok, will just use old MRI and gave him the injection.good luck

At this point, you don't have proof that there is or is not a Minnesota law that says this. Keep in mind that the police are only familiar with the laws they enforce. It is highly probable this is an insurance law, so they wouldn't be aware of it.Give the Minnesota Insurance Commissioner's...

The best answer you're going to get to all your questions is from your own insurance people. Call them and ask them. Anyone other than them who gives you a price is guessing. (Maybe an accurate guess, but it's still going to be a guess.)
