If I purchase auto insurance from AAA, am I automatically enrolled in AAA roadside assistance?

When I purchased AAA auto insurance last year, I was sent an AAA membership card with an explanation of benefits. Now that my policy is up for renewal, AAA membership sent me another card with a bill. What gives?

You must be a AAA member in order to purchase insurance from AAA. Most likely, what happened was your agent enrolled you in the AAA club when you signed up for the auto insurance. As has been said by others, they are two separate issues. The AAA membership gives you roadside assistance,5 miles of free towing in the basic membership, maps, discounts at participating retailers, etc.The AAA insurance does not come with roadside assistance, because ... why, you have AAA membership to begin with, that's your roadside assistance coverage.Source(s):I have been a member even before I was conceived.

1st year was free. Roadside assistance does not come with the insurance. Sorry. I have had AAA insurance for 8 years and only had roadside assistance for the first 2 they still insure me though so I don't think you have to have roadside assistance for insurance unless the rules have changed.

Yes, but you have to pay extra.I filled out an on-line form, got a quote, and went to their office to sign the paperwork. AFTER I payed for the road service, they THEN informed me that the price of the ins. would be higher than quoted.HUH????supposedly, I made a mistake on the form. B.S. I told them to cram their insurance, but kept the roadside service for a year. (and didn't use it, by the way)

You have to be enrolled in their roadside benefit program in order to have their insurance. You can have the card without the insurance, but not the insurance without the card.

Jordan get it and if possible put other members of the family on it and spouse. Now, if you work 30-40 miles away from your home, you might want to get the 50 miles or more AAA roadside assistance.Once I was about 40 miles away from home when my car stalled in a 100 degreee heat. I had roadside assistance, BUT it was way over the mileage. So if I wanted my car towed, it would cost Ask

20!!!!! So I got the more mileage coverage. It is cheaper and better than paying extra and then a taxi tooo boot.Source(s):Roadside assistance is a separate thing. That's where they get you.
