Is it possible to have auto insurance in one province but need a health card in a different province?

I have Alberta insurance but live in Ontario and want to get an OHIP card until I go back to Alberta next year. Is this possible? I have lived in Ontario for a year.

Gambit

To qualify for OHIP you must:* be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or among one of the newcomer to Canada groups who are eligible for OHIP as set out in Ontario’s Health Insurance Act - and* be physically present in Ontario for 153 days in any 12-month period- and* be physically present in Ontario for at least 153 days of the first 183 days immediately after establishing residency in the province- and* make your primary place of residence in Ontario. It would seem you qualify, but only you can answer these questions for sure. If you feel you do then go down to a Service Ontario office and apply. Keep in mind two things:1) If you have an Alberta plated vehicle in Ontario for the last year you can be charged with having an improperly registered vehicle in Ontario. You're suppose to register your vehicle in Ontario within 90 days of taking up residence in Ontario.2) If you haven't informed your insurer in Alberta that the vehicle's been in Ontario all this time and will be for the foreseeable future then should you have a claim your insurer can deny it due to failure to inform the insurer of a material change in risk. This means you could be liable for all damages and injuries.
