Lost Title?

I bought an old truck for my husband for Christmas a couple of years ago and he lost the title b4 we could get it re-registered in TX (I was stationed out of state). How can I get it switched to my name and registered without having to pay the large fee for it being so long ago?

Monica, Monica. just pay the fee and be done with it.

If you lost the title before you transferred it into your name, the title is still in the name of the buyer. Contact the buyer, offer to pay for him to apply for a lost title and hope he will do that and sign it over to you again. If he won't, or you have lost touch with the seller, you will have to use the bonded title method. It's time consuming, and expensive, but there isn't much choice. Did you buy it in TX?Where did you buy it?Where was your legal residency at that time?Do you have a bill of sale?Is this a bunch of bull? The fact that you've waited a couple years to even bother to ask indicates you may not legally own the vehicle. I doubt that you'll be able to register it.Go to your local motor vehicle department and ask them.G

bob

it was never registered so it was never driven on the road pay the fee for the lost document and register the car there should be no penaltys

Organization or agency to advise me on difficulties with AARP and Hartford Auto Insurance?
Right, AARP has no influence. If you bought the insurance DIRECTLY from Hartford, you have no agent. Hartford sells directly, but they ALSO sell through agents. If you bought through an agent, go to your agent for help. Otherwise, you ARE your agent.Complaints to AARP are going to do NOTHING...

How much would auto insurance be for a 18 year old?
Forget about the "on-line" companies and get yourself a local agent. If you don't know WHERE to look on line, how are you going to know WHAT to do when you GET there???There is not ONE insurance company that is good for everyone - as there are too many variables to consider!Typically, insurance...
