Where do I find a place that sells totaled bikes?

I have been looking for a place to buy a bike that the insurance company totals. I am wanting to find out where insurance companies sell the bikes. I live between byran and Austin Texas so if you can help I would appreciate it.

Most are probably parted out for whatever parts are left and then tossed in the garbage.Check with local repair shops, they probably get people who bring in bikes to get fixed, find out its more than its worth and they wind up junking them, maybe you could get a shop to call you and let you know when this happens. Not sure where your at I"m in Illinois. In the south burbs here there's a shop that sells nothing but damaged and totalled bikes. Some they repair and sell as salvage biikes but most are wrecked up and you gotta fix them yourself, you can get some good deals on some pretty expensive bikes if you know how to fix them.

Best suggestions I have:1) contact your insurance agent and ask them to check into it for you.2)most larger dealerships have some sort of "parts bike" sell off each year3)local salvage yards will often sell off a wreck that they have boughtBe careful-if you ever intend on fixing the bike and riding it, there is a lot of "hoops" to jump thru to get a bike titled as "salvage" back on the road-including hauling and leaving it at a local State Police barricks that does Inspections-where they will take weeks going over it with a fine tooth comb to make sure it is up to par. Any deviation in frame, suspension, tires, fenders lighting will fail it and you will only have a certain amount of time to correct the failures to get it reinspected and it does COST for this inspection.Source(s):motorcycle mechanic for 35 years

Do auto insurance companies receive money for taking older vehicles off the road?
No, they don't get paid for getting older cars off the road. They total cars if the cost to repair them reaches or exceeds a certain threshold (usually 70%) of the actual market value of the vehicle. Most older vehicles are not worth the repair cost it's going to take to get it back in a...
